Mission
To contribute to students’ artistic and personal growth through the exploration of Latin American music while bringing an innovative event to the Austin community that showcases Latinoamerican culture and the work of other Latin American organizations.
Fiesta! 2022 was a major success that resulted in a packed show with standing room only and an audience comprised of people from the community of all ages and backgrounds— many of them experiencing an orchestra concert for the first time!
The idea for this project came from my desire to share the different musical languages that exist in Latin America with the Austin community. I loved the idea of having one event that invites local music professionals, Latinx organizations, and students from a variety of backgrounds to collaborate through one medium: music! As a Latina conductor and music educator, I am passionate about providing the next generation of musicians with a more diverse canon of classical music in order to reflect and highlight the diversity of the audiences that support us.
